Training in the morning with depleted glycogen stores is reportedly best for burning fat at low intensity, but longer duration. After training is when glycogen stores are depleted from training and the body will use fat for fuel rather than carbohydrates. Personally I always use seperate training days with my clients for cardio, or if time is limited then after training. And I get them to perform interval type cardiovascular training,

I lift weights in the morning and do cardio in the evening. After I workout I don't know how I'd go doing a hour of cardio. If I split them up I can put max effort into each

I personally perform cardio on an empty stomach in the morning and this has worked well for me (I'm currently cutting). I find that I don't have enough energy in the morning to lift weights with the required intensity so I perform most of my weight training either in the evening or at the weekend.

Yeah I would have trouble doing any sort of exercise on an empty stomach...I wake up every morning hungry as a bear!

Good question!
My 2 cents is that you stick with the ratios but switch up your meals to match the times of activitiy. Say you want more energy in the early part of the day (basketball) - take in more grams of carbs than usual for the first part of the day and then reverse that with more grams of protein in the latter half of the day. Calories stay in the right range, ratios are good - just a matter of making the food work for you the way you need it for the activity at hand.
