Can't thank you guys enough for the advice.
I'll try to mould a routine that suits me based on the above. I know I'm young...but based on the way I look and feel, it seems I'm a hell of a lot older haha. Regardless, I'll try and keep the technique up to par and make sure I'm getting a positive benefit from my workouts.
I weighed myself and I'm approaching the 210 mark, so I think I'll start cutting back soon and get rid of some of the fat. I've always been a big eater, and it seems like I've never had to try to gain weight because it has just come - whether from height or body mass.

I'll have a look on the site and see if I can find any faqs on the food I should eat when cutting.

I'll post back to this after I workout my routine a bit,

Thanks again.

Proper form Whilst Bench Pressing

The pressing phase begins as the weight is pushed toward the starting position. The lifter exhales as the muscles contract to control the ascent of the weight. The pressing phase concludes with the arms fully extended and the elbows locked. The muscles can only develop optimally if they exert controlled force through the entire range of motion.

Common errors during the press phase include: arching the back and lifting the feet from the floor. Arching the back is a cheating movement that is the result of a lifter attempting too heavy of a weight. The back arch allows the lifter to cheat by utilizing the force generated by the buttocks and hips to assist the chest in the lift.

The back arch places the bones and intervertibral disks at risk of injury. The back was not designed to arch in this exaggerated manner. When the lifter arches his/her back to compensate for a lack of strength, the intervertibral joints can sustain injury due to the combination of compressive and expansion forces simultaneously affecting the joints and disks.
I agree with Doug.

Also, arching your back is equivalent to doing a decline bench press in that it works your lower pecs more. So if you're going to do this, better to do the decline press with the heavier weight as then you don't have the injury risk with it.

I'm not really into bending my back on the flat bench... I'll stick to decline for the lower pecs.
