The lack of enzymes and alteration of proteins also renders the calcium in milk largely unassailable.

It is better to obtain protein from normal foods or protein supplements.
Well, what about milk enriched with vitamins A and D? Here in Sweden the "governmental" recommendation for sources of calcium is mainly enriched milk along with various types of cheese. Although there is more and more evidence that "governmental" recommendations in general are based on very out-dated research results, I have a hard time believing a government that lies to its citizens like this...

Sweden is an exception, and has the lowest levels of lactose intolerance in the world, only 2% of its adult population being lactose intolerant. This can be traced to a DNA mutation in that population which occured between 4000-4500 BC.

Strangely enough, in all the Scandinavian countries, most of the popluation are lactose tolerant, but the percentages are less than those in Sweden.

(In fact, the details of the mutation aren't precise, and there are two main trains of thought - one that the DNA mutation occurred in Sweden in 4000 BC, and the other that the mutation occured in the middle east around 4500 BCE, and then spread upwards into the Scandinavian countries.)

In the rest of the world, lactose intolerance is physiologically normal for most adults.

The information comes from a respected scientific journal:

Bayless T M; Rosensweig N S A racial difference in incidence of lactase deficiency. A survey of milk intolerance and lactase deficiency in healthy adult males. JAMA : the journal of the American Medical Association (1966), 197(12), Page 968-972.

There is some information here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lactose_intolerance
(which does, in fact, mention the phenomenon and Sweden.)

This is funny because I became lactose intollerant earlier in the year to the point where I'd be really sick, then recently about last month I've been able to stomach dairy again!!! I hope this doesn't mean... lol

I was always unsure about milk with body building and weight loss a lot of people either have soy or no dairy I find.

I'm really frustrated because I have not been eating as much dairy - just because I haven't? Now I'm getting bad milk experiences coming back and biting me in the a*s. So I've bought So Good fat-free which I think has less sugar or carbs than the Pura Tone or whatever it was. I had about 5 mins til the supermarket closed so I was trying to read as fast as possible and read about 5 different milk lablels lol. I think I spent a lot of shopping time checking lables which I'm not used to!!! Well I hardly ever did it. If the protein perfect is a milk thing (coz I'm really unsure of what it is) then I hope that doesn't give me any problems...
