Cool Weight Gains

Hey guys, I Have been bulking for about a month now, and have gained approx. 18 pounds. I lift heavy 6 days a week, and ive had 4 cheat days (about once a week). And doing a pretty good job of 30/50/20 diet. I dont notice a major increase in fat, although i have lost a little definition but that was expected.

My question is does this sound about right for a month of bulking for 6 days a week? I havent been able to get a BF% latly but I plan on trying to get one soon. I would just like to see some of your opinions.

A BF% reading would make the difference. If most of your weight you put on was muscle you'd be fine. Otherwise, I would say you may be eating too much.

The general advice to lose weight is around 2lbs per week, so I assume to put on weight, 2lbs per week would be good and would amount to 8lbs per month. The more weight you gain over a short period of time the more likely the weight is predominantly fat.

I think you gained quite a bit of that weight from fat. Like gainweight said you can lose up to a maximum of 2 lbs of fat per week, but to gain muscle I think the average is 1.5 pounds per week so all the rest would be fat. Get that bf% reading done either way to see how much of the weight was fat and how much muscle.

Also just a thought but if you began taking creatine when you began bulking then some of that might be water weight as I believe that creatine does cause a bit of water retention.

But yeah, I would get a BF% check done to make sure.

Yeah, I was thinking that, i mean 5lbs of water weight is the normal right? Between the carbs and creatine. So that would make about 2 pounds a week plus 5lbs of water. ?

Sounds a bit excessive, depends on how finely tuned you are to your diet/body and needs and how much excess you are eating. You've said the PCF's but what about the calorie surplus?

5lb of water weight -- not sure if that's normal or not since you were bulking and introducing creatine so it's hard to say how much was water weight or actual muscle.

If your not feeling flabby/fat then just stick with it and don't worry too much.

btw; Okinawa ? Nice I'm in Tokyo =)
