Default not able to complete reps ... down weight?

If i'm pushing myself up another 5 lbs per barbell on an incline press. If I get half way through the sets, and i'm finding i can't finish my 8 reps, is it smarter to give yourself a little more rest between sets and try and complete the number of reps. or is it better to drop maybe the 5 lbs and complete the remaining reps??

If you cannot complete all the reps in the set then the weight would be too heavy.
Reduce the weight so you can complete the whole set, making sure the last 1-2 reps are difficult to complete, whilst maintaining good form.

What rest do you have at the moment between sets and between each exercise?
Do you time it?

For most of the workouts on M&S a 'rest time' is included, it's usually 60 to 90 seconds. I know shorter rests can help build endurance, whereas longer rests may be needed for lifting extremely heavy weights and testing your maximum loads.

In my opinion as long as you can make 6 reps on all of your sets you are doing just fine without reducing the weight. So if you can get 10-9-8-6 reps, I wouldnt reduce the weight. If I were falling below 6 reps regularly I would reduce the weight.

Hi, as already posted above, use a weight that you can only just perform the given number of reps. If you cant perform all the reps then reduce the weight until you can.
