From my understanding any excess calories can be stored as fat. But as long as you know what your goals are and you are taking in the right amount of calories based on these goals you should be fine.

Any calorie that is above the amount you require for your daily needs, whether it comes from fat, carbs or protein will store itself as fat.

Yes it can.. Protein=calories and excess calories are also stored as fat. A calorie is a calorie is a calorie. I really don't understand why you are on a low carb diet to lose fat.. You will lose some water weight and then your body will start to shut down because of the lack of energy(carbs). If anything do like a carb cycling.. Have moderate carbs day 1 and 2 and carb up on 3.

If he's on a low carb diet i don't think he will be exceeding his caloric intake.

Protein, carbohydrates and fats can be stored for use later and the storing vehicle in your body is fat.

If you eat to much protein the nitrogen component is stripped and excreted through your urine which may give your urine a strong ammonia like smell. This usually is not an issue as long as you keep your water intake high which decreases the nitrogen concentrations and your urine is just fine.

If you eat to many carbs and the energy is not needed right away then it is stored in your body as fat. Thus the reasoning behind limiting carbs before bed.

And if you eat fat, it may or may not be stored due to your system requirements. If you are an endurance athlete then fat is needed to break down and use for aerobic energy. Again too much fat is stored as bodyfat.

Fat(bodyfat) is your bodies way of storing calories for later in the day or when you need it. This knowledge goes along way into diet, frequency of eating, and food volumes. Once you figure that out, and for me I am still learning on this, then your body transformation occurs quickly.

This part reminds me of a cyclist I saw who was crossing South America (I think) and taking guest riders on his tandem to help out for as far as they wanted to be his buddy cyclist...

...well, to get to the point, he ran out of food during his trip and only had a bottle of olive oil which he drank like soda to get his calories...obviously not enough calories but pure fat and not an ounce stored as fat for the former reason, as you've stated above.

You will be surprised just how many people who embark on these types of diets that actually underestimate or even overestimate their calorie intake
