Default Question about pectoral muscles.

Hi.

Im just wondering if when you stop working out will pectoral muscles shrink back to original size. My pecs look abit bulky and stick out to much, i feel they dont look right with my physique as im quite lean. if i did higher reps with lighter weights do you think my pectoral muscles would become flatter and leaner over time, as this is the look i would like to go for a tighter leaner build. Has anyone else had this problem and managed to correct it.

Thanks for any help.

Do higher reps with lighter weights will do nothing but increase muscular endurance. Doing this on a cut, and wow, you'll be losing muscle like no tomorrow. uptoyou matey

Your saying the during a cut the reps should remain around 8-12 Reps (Upper Body, Lower Body 10-15 Reps) and keep the weight high to retain muscle mass??

Im not trying to cut, i actually want to lose the muscle in my pecs so they appear flatter and leaner, the pectoral muscles look like they stick out to much when i look down at them.
I was wondering as your arms would grow larger from lifting heavier and then reduce in size if you lifted lighter, would this also apply to the pectoral muscles, if i started to lift lighter with more reps would they become less bulky looking and more flat and lean looking.

Sorry if im not explaining it very well, thanks for answers so far.

Many work for years and never achieve a small, thin frame with a big chest. Just saying.

That said, instead of trying to get your chest smaller, why not work in your shoulders, arms, back and legs with the intent to make them bigger? As these areas fill out more and become more muscular, your chest will not look so out-of-proportion.

My thoughts exactly seeing the previous post. Build the rest of your body to match your chest.

Why are you splitting upper and lower body with different reps. All reps should stay below 12 if you want to retain the muscle mass you spent timeeee to build. And yes, keep the weight as high as possible.

i agree. reducing the weight with more reps will only increase your muscular endurance and keep your muscle mass at the same amount.
as its difficult and time consuming to get a big chest i'd advice working on the rest of your body to get it up to the same standard
