Rep Power: 3 daghetto is on a distinguished road
Default reps ranges?

The workout im doing(Westside for skinny bastards), for some excercises, gives a choice of something like 3 sets of 8-12. but im wondering, whats the difference if i do 3 sets of 12, as opposed to say, 3 sets of 8? or 10?

generally, 5 reps or less is strengthbuilding, 6 to 8 reps is for muscle and 9 to 12 reps is endurance.

The way I look at is you do volume and toning sets and when working a muscle group you usually want to mix the two. For volume (strength/mass), heavy weight and lower reps 8-10 and maybe down to 6 for last heavy set(s). Then for toning you want high rep's to help with definition. Those I will do 15 and as high as 25 all depends on what muscle group or exercise. Even more important is timing. Personally I tend to work faster on volume sets and slower on toning sets.

It's all about learning what works for you.
