You could, and you should do several different exercises when working muscle groups. But if your bad at dips, why not try to get better?

Can you do any dips at all? Even one? Cause if you can, I'd say do dips as well and get better with them over time.

Do Tricep Extensions, Skull Crushers, Bench Dips and Closed Grip Presses. When you can do more weight then try the Dips again.

Do not neglect your Chest as it plays it's role in dips as well.

Here is the Link to Tricep Workouts.

Why would you want to swap out a compound movement for an isolation?
I would stick with the dips, and build up on them so you can get out straight sets of your required reps.

I don't suppose you're gym has a dip assist machine? That would be a very good thing. However, body weight exercises like dips and chin ups are monstrous strength gainers. I would do your best to develop those techniques. Isolation curls and extensions will give you much slower progress. Chin ups are a hell of alot harder than dips too, btw.

I'd replace dips with close grip bench press not an isolation move. CGBP is the BEST tricep builder IMO. That and full bench
