Default Unsure of Future weight Training

Hi

I have been registered on the site for short time, just browsing looking at different workouts and routines, as i need a change. Its so far been fantastic with all the different types of workouts i found, its really helped a lot.

I'm just suffering from one small problem, with regards to workouts, i see they specify reps and sets ect, and how to go about it. My concern is, how hard do i push, do i increase weight with each set, or decrease, or the same weight is to be used through out, or max weight through out.

You see, I have been hitting the gym for about a year and gained almost 9 kg's, this to me is a great achievement, but i don't think i will be picking up and more after this.

I was wanting to post pics, so that i could be critiqued, but thought it would be little noob just yet.

Anyways im just looking into some insight on that.

Welcome to the forum mate.

With the reps, you should be using a weight heavy enough to allow you to just complete the set, whilst maintaining good form.
The last few reps on each set should be challenging for you to complete.
Although you should never sacrifice form for the weight lifted, as quality is far more important than quantity.

Here is a little example:
The goal of the set is 10 reps.

- Using a weight too light will mean you will hit the 10 reps, and have the strength for more.

- Using a weight that is perfect will mean by the 8th rep, you will be finding it difficult to maintain proper form while pushing on for the 10.

- Using a weight that is too heavy will mean you will start to fail earlier on in the set, restricting you to complete all 10 reps.

You can most defiently post pics, the forum members here will happily take a look at them and make some suggestions and comments for you.

HI

Fantastic, thanks, this gives me the idea of how I should post complete my workouts. On another note, would it be wise to follow programs that people recommended or make something up on your own.

I have looked at programs and routines and made my own.

If your just starting out you should follow a routine depending on what you want to do. There are many good ones on this site. You could also post the one you made up so people can critique it.

Yes, I will do that, sit down and break it down, although i have a quick question on top of that, For some reason when i do back and back alone, My biceps seem to burn like crazy and loose strength after like the first exercise. I was thinking that I'm not focusing on my back, merely just getting the set/reps done, if you know what I mean.
