Default Gym when ill?

Hey guys,
I have flu like syptoms at the moment, shivery and my joints are aching. Should i still go to the gym tomorrow? I will feel bad but will still be able to complete my workout as i am doing a strength workout and am slowly increasing the weight.

I still plan on taking my shakes and stuff, the only thing is that i feel pretty bad. I can still go to the gym (will just forget the pain) but should i? will i still make gains? bearing in mind that its a stremgth workout at an early stage. Thx all

Common lol, that just sounds like a recipe for disaster. (don't go & lift.)

If you want to go to the gym, go to the sauna or hot tub and dont do anything.

I've found that when you're not at 100%, form gets sloppy & the likelyhood of injury is high.... like when I hurt my elbow doing flies two weeks ago and had to take 7 days off for safety sake.

If it was just a head cold then you could maybe train, if you have flu symptoms then I would advise against training, its no problem having a rest, your immune system will be low anyway, so take the rest. You still have years to gain the strength

Not only that but going to the gym could compromise the health of all the other gym patrons.

Do the right thing and quarantine yourself.

I disagree. You can't be held accountable for other people not taking care of their immune systems.

So if he is using gym equipment while being sick...it's the fault of others for catching his germs?

sick=rest. For flu, sleep, liquids and vitamins.

And yes, if you have a flu, it is YOUR responsibility NOT to spread it. Stay home until contagious period has cleared (after initial 2 days).

With the current outbreaks of swine flu that is about, a lot of places now wont allow anyone who has flu symptoms into their premises. I recently saw signs on a local pharmacy window saying do not enter if you have flu symptoms.

Taking care of yourself and aiding your immune system can help prevent illness, but no one is completely resistant unless you've already dealt with that particular strain.

If you do train with a cold, make sure you are doing your best to wipe down all equipment after use. Of course wash you hands frequently!

actually you probably could be sued for knowingly infecting someone with a possibly deadly illness. at the very least you are being an inconsiderate arse... IMO of course.
