In the next chapter.... the WolfLady set upon a pretty set of free weights she picked up earlier in the week. The metal felt cold and hard in her hands, a rather intimidating feel. However, the knowledge supplied by a certain wonderful website gave her the confidence to grip them hard and lift them.
She managed to last an entire routine, and was actually shocked by her own ability! Our brave heroine gasped and sweated her way through the beginner's three-day routine, the metal eventually warming in her determined grip. They weren't heavy, just the bare bars with no added weights, but by the end they felt as though they were desperately seeking a love affair with gravity. Our beloved Wolfy held on for dear life, and thwarted the lovers time and time again.
Eventually, however, the weights and gravity were to be held apart no longer, and the metal was gently placed down upon the floor into the welcoming embrace. Our coourageous heroine stood for a moment in silence, feeling her body in her mind, like she had never known it before.
There was a strange pulsing, a tingling over all of her skin. A soft ache engulfed every muscle as they trembled in relief. She had enough energy to lift her hands over her head and yelp in triumph. She had completed her first ever weights session.
The sudden adrenaline rush felt wonderful, and our beloved Wolfy put it to use. She thumped onto her trusty treadie and beat out 3km in 25 minutes. A record for her. She staggered to a chair and flopped down, trembling from head to toe, sweat stinging her eyes and her heart hammering in overdrive. But will she quiver and cry and say, "It hurts too much?"
No. She said to the ceiling, "It's good to feel alive."
