Nothing in particular.
I think genetics have been kind to me in some ways.
I worked out with guys that competed when I was in my twenties. I'm 43 now. (No, I never juiced - but man! They would bust my arse tryin to keep up with them!)
When I started back about three years ago I did basic compound stuff and did three exercises three sets of 8 for each body part three times a week.
Yep - overtrained.
I just remembered the intensity of what I had done earlier and focused too much on getting somewhere fast.
I slowed it down and studied more on diet and nutrition and I have to say that is really when I started seeing more results. I knew the effect foods would have on me and the way I recovered, my strength, general energy, my moods and even my attitude.
Tried 5x5 for a while and got some good basic strength but didn't see much size. I then switched to Chest/Tri/Shoulders and Back/Bi/Legs about three months ago. I do this every third day. For example: I'll do C/T/S on Monday
and then Thursday it is B/B/L, Sunday C/T/S and so on. I still only shoot for three exercises for each body part except legs - I do four or five depending on how much gas I got in the tank.
I throw Abs in haphazardly a couple times a week.
