All carbohydrates will cause insulin to be released to lower blood sugar, but the simpler the carbohydrate the more insulin that is released. The more complex the carbohydrate the slower the insulin release is. The insulin release will push the carbs out of the blood stream and into the muscle/liver to be used, but if the carbohydrate store in muscle and liver are full then off it goes into our fat stores to be used at another time. if ever..lol

Look on the tub it should say "maltodextrin" which is complex, or it could be a blend of simple (sugar) and complex
