Should I drink a sports drink or water during training?
When training you sweat water so replacing the lost fluids is essential for someone who is wanting to perform at their peak so to prevent yourself from becoming dehydrated you should drink water before during and after exercise.
Personal preference come into play about sports drinks such as when continuously exercising for a long period of time you become dehydrated and tired so you may benefit from the extra carbohydrates in the sports drinks but beware as some sports drinks that contain high levels of carbohydrates will cause the delay or absorption of water which in turn may cause dehydration, cramps, nausea or in some cases diarrhea.
If coming up to an important event such as if you will be doing a fun run or in some cases a marathon or even half marathon you should try out which method makes your body feel better and more ready to continue during the run before the big day arrives.
