Is CLA found in supplements the same as CLNA found in flaxseed oil?
No. Here are the two definitions:
Conjugated Lonoleic Acid (CLA) is an omega-6 fatty acid found mainly in dairy products and meat. It enhances fat loss and increases lean body mass. CLA comes in two isomers, the 9,11 isomer which is responsible for improving muscle growth and the 10,12 isomer which primarily prevents lipogenesis (storage of fat in adipose tissue). Most good products have a 50/50 ratio of the two.
Conjugated Linolenic acid (CLNA) is an omega-3 fatty acid found in food. It is highly concentrated in certain plant oils such as flaxseed, canola, soy, perilla, and walnut. It is beneficial for heart disease, inflammatory bowel disease, arthritis and a variety of other health conditions.
