Lifestyle Prior To Change

Sports and weight training have always been a major part of my life. I played football and baseball in high school, and playing football in college is what led me to get more serious about lifting, which led me into bodybuilding.

What was your turning point?

I got hurt after my sophmore year of football in college and was at a point where I was training and lifting heavy but without any real goal in mind or purpose. I was working at a bar at the time and my boss was a competitive bodybuilder. I saw him getting ready for a competition and I was amazed by how he looked, and thought I would give it a shot. Myself, and two of my roommates dieted down and trained together, and competed for the first time in May of 07.

What Was Your Exercise Plan?

I train as heavy as possible pre contest or off-season, in just about every rep range. I alternate betweens heavy weeks with reps between 1-6, and rep range weeks with reps from 10 up to 25 reps. In my heavy weeks I focus mainly on the squat, bench press and deadlift with a few supplemental exercises, going as heavy as possible. On my rep range weeks I pretty much just try and trash the muscle from every angle, using drop sets, negatives, rest pauses, etc. One of my favorites is the 20 rep squat on leg day. As for cardio pre contest, 6 days a week I did 40 minutes of medium intensity cardio in the morning, with two additional high intensity interval sessions a week lasting about 20 minutes.

What Was Your Diet Plan?

In January I teamed up with Dr. Joe Klemczewski (the diet doc) and we did a very long contest prep starting in January and ending in September. His idea was to diet slow, making sure not to loose muscle, and gradually decrease carbs and fats as my weight stagnates. For the majority of the diet I stayed around 250 protein, 200-250 carbs, and 45-50 fat. His plan works extremely well, and throughout most of the diet I maintained a ton of strength, and energy.

What supplements did you use?

I am fortunate enough to be a Muscletech sponsored athlete, and they supply me with the essentials for a natural bodybuilder pre-contest. In my opinion the most important supplements are a multivitamin, creatine, glutamine, BCAAs and whey protein. I also am a big fan of Hydroxycut Hardcore X.

What Is Your Life Like Now?

I am currently working as a Sports Performance Coach for BlueStreak Sports Training in Hauppauge NY. I have several goals set for myself; the biggest one is earning my natural pro card in the spring of 2010. I would also like to give powerlifting a shot in my next off-season.

Advice for others

Train heavy, train hard, and try not to get caught up with all the gimmicky training programs that are all over the Internet. Keep it simple. Consistency is key with diet and training, if you stay focused, results will come.

I am not a body builder, I just train for health and fitness. I think George look good on the before photo. I am not crazy about a supercut physique, my very personal opinion.
